Downey Planning and Architecture is a multi-disciplinary practice of Chartered Town Planner, Architects and Project Managers. Our collective ethos is to perfect the ‘art of planning and design’ to deliver projects for clients within the construction sector.

Our service provision is through a multi-disciplinary practice which boasts an extensive skill-set with decades of experience. Our experience and evidence based approach ensures that our clients, both in the public and private sectors, benefit from optimum success rates of planning procurement and development.

John Downey

Founder & Principal Planner

John JK Downey is a Chartered Town Planner and is the Founding Director and Principal of Downey Planning and Architecture. He has 20 years’ experience in development in the public and private sectors, both in Ireland and the UK, providing evidence based planning solutions and expert advice to clients.

Eva Bridgeman

Director

Eva Bridgeman is a qualified Town Planner and Project Manager, currently in the role of Director of Planning with Downey Planning. Prior to this, Eva was a Consultant Planner with Downey Hynes Partnership.

Anne McElligott

Director

Anne is a qualified Town Planner and Geographer, and currently holds the position of Director of Planning at Downey Planning. Prior to this Anne was a Senior Planner with Downey Planning, Consultant Planner with Downey Hynes Partnership and has worked with both Cork City Council and Cork County Council on various projects.

Donal Duffy

Senior Planner

Donal Duffy is a qualified Town Planner and currently holds the position of Consultant Planner at Downey Planning. Prior to this, Donal was an Assistant Planner at Stephen Ward Town Planning and McGill Planning and also worked in KSA as a Graduate Planner.

Brian Bolger

Director

Brian Bolger is a qualified Architect, Architectural Technician and a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland. He obtained his Architectural Degree from the University of Greenwich, London and has worked with some of the leading design focused practices in the UK and Ireland.

Justin Halpin

Director

Justin built up extensive experience prior to joining Downey Planning in 2013. This work has included responsibility as Project Architect / Designer for a number of one-off house designs, residential developments, mixed use commercial & retail units, restaurants, pubs, banks and hotels in Ireland.

Kevin Dodd

Architect

Kevin has over 20 years’ experience in both Ireland and the UK, leading a diverse range of projects from inception through to the construction stage. Kevin has strong 3D software and presentation skills and was a prize winner at Velux/AJ Lifetime Housing Design Competition

Eric Wienand

Architect

After more than 10 years’ experience as an Architect in South Africa, Eric moved to Ireland in 2000 and spent nine years working for various large commercial practices, including Henry J Lyons and Anthonny Reddy Architects, on large urban design and masterplanning projects.

Frances Murphy

Architect

Frances has over five years’ professional experience in Ireland and the UK, working on High End Residential projects in London and managing projects for an international retail construction company. Frances has led numerous residential projects from concept development through to the construction stage.

Ellen Garcia Nunes

Architect

In September 2013, Ellen joined Downey’s Architecture Department having previously worked fro Cushman & Wakefield in Brazil and Jan Gorgul Architektura Urbanistyka in Poland. Ellen is proficient in design, AutoCAD and Sketch Up, along with a depth of knoweledge and experience of Irish planning and building regulations.
